1 ¼cupshoney
¾cupbrown sugar
⅓cupDijon mustard
½teaspoonground cloves
½teaspoonground cinnamon
⅓cupapple cider vinegar
¼cupwater
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
Prepare Ham: Remove all packaging materials and place ham in shallow roasting pan on a rack, flat-side down.
Make Glaze: In a saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, apple cider vinegar, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the brown sugar is dissolved and the glaze is slightly thick. Let it cool.
Apply Glaze: Brush the ham with half of the glaze, be sure to get it into the slices.
Bake Ham: Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake for approximately 15 minutes per pound (about 3 hours) until heated through. Do not overcook. Baste with the remaining glaze every hour.
Caramelize Glaze: During the last 20-30 minutes of baking, remove the foil and brush the ham with additional glaze. Bake uncovered to allow the glaze to caramelize and become slightly sticky.
Rest and Serve: Once done, remove the ham from the oven, and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
Notes
Thaw frozen ham in the refrigerator for 2 days. Before baking, I recommend to leave ham in room temperature for an hour so it cooks evenly and moist. A cold ham will take longer to warm, drying out the ham. When applying the glaze, be sure it drips into the slices and penetrate the meat.Storing Leftovers:Store leftover ham in an airtight container up to 3 days in the refrigerator. To freeze ham, store in an airtight container up to a month, if vacuum sealed up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before warming.Save the ham bone to make ham broth or soup.Reheating Leftovers: Fry leftover ham on a non-stick pan with 1 tablespoon oil. Fry each side for 30 seconds or longer, depending on your preference.Bake or Broil at 350 degrees F or lower for 3 to 4 minutes.Microwave – Drizzle some ham juice or ham sauce and microwave for 45 seconds to 1 minute for 2 slices. Adjust time for more slices.
